Gangs

Gangs may be a problem within your area. It is often difficult to know how to deal with the pressures to be in a gang or the risks from being victimised by gang members.

Strathclyde Police have a web site designed specially for children and young people to help with information and advice about how to deal with this issue. The link for this is http://www.spstation.co.uk/

If you are affected by this issue, it's important that you get help. You could talk to your guidance teacher, or you could contact your local social work office. The police will also take this seriously, and a good starting point is to ask for the Community Safety Officer. You can remain anonymous if you wish, however, the police would be unable to prosecute unless you allow your name to be used. Any information helps the police to have more knowledge about what's going on in your area and allows them to be more proactive. This can help the police to prevent people from being victimised by putting the information together and looking at patterns of behaviour in the area.
